I am currently testing the e-commerce plugin Eshop. It is very simple to install, uses Paypal and can handle digital downloads. So far I am satisfied with the plugin but will need to do more testing.

HTC Fuze

I got a new toy this last week. I upgraded my phone to an HTC Fuze – still with AT&T. It is touch screen smartphone with a full flip out keyboard. It includes: GPS, Wifi, 3G, 3 megapixel camera, and stereo Bluetooth.

I have spent most of the week customizing and tweaking. It took several days to get Wifi and internet connection sharing to work but everything is working now. AT&T seems to try to limit what can be done on their locked phones. However, with Windows Mobile Pro. 6 on the phone most settings can be changed.

So far I am quite happy with the phone. Later I will post a list of the software and tweaks that I have found most useful

WP Ecommerce

I have been testing the plugin WP Ecommerce. There are many options to allow customization. The basic setup is quite simple. However, there are some basic things like displaying the store page that are less than intuitive.

The basic version is free. It probably has enough options to meet my needs at this point. The more advanced options come at a cost though not very high.

One of the options that I find most interesting is the ability to sell items for download. I am still having trouble getting that part to work completely.

WordPress 2.7

The newest version of WordPress is out – version 2.7. It is said to be much faster. The admin panel has been completely redone. I have only used it a couple of minutes but already like the look and feel of it.

If you don’t use the Automatic Upgrade plugin you are missing out. I just upgraded my installation and it only took a few minutes even though I am doing so over the internet connection on my phone. And no, it is not a 3G connection.

Outlook vs. Gmail

I use Outlook at work but am not able to sync with my phone because of company restrictions. In order to overcome this limitation I set up a Gmail account. I found this article that compares the features of both.
